Located in the Hills of the green land called Irpinia, in the heart of Campania, there is the ancient village of Taurasi, that forms the core of production of this amazing red wine, which takes its name from the village itself: Taurasi.
The Taurasi DOCG covers 17 municipalities and four different geographic zones. These old grapes probably dates back to ancient Greece and was brought into Italy around the 7th-6th century BC. The name Taurasi, referring to the village, originates from the old Taurasia, destroyed by the Romans in 268 BC.
High up in the green hills, in the historical centre there is a charming ancient medieval castle, you can have the possibility to join a private visit of this marvellous village with its historical centre. Inside the charming castle a sensorial experience will completely catch you, and you will discover the four Irpinia wines (Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo, Aglianico e Taurasi). Also, you may have the opportunity to visit the entire castle where you can admire the beautiful landscape from the top of its tower.
After the Castle ,following there will be a visit in one of the most spectacular wineries in Campania, where the Family owner has been cultivating the vines for many generations. The winery has a modern technical structure with an antique taste. Walking through antique fountains, made from stone, and niches, between walls made of large stone, arches and vaults, you will discover the wine production and its aging process. Into the numerous fascinating small tunnels you can observe barrels, bottles and vats that are stored like a real museum of the viticulture.
